Join the discussion with the Authors & Characters program series featuring local authors.  A luncheon will be served for $10 per person—payment is required to complete registration.  Please check your email for payment instructions.

Dr. Britta Waldschmidt-Nelson, Professor of Transatlantic History and Culture at the History Department of the University of Augsburg, in Germany, will be discussing her forthcoming book about Marian Wright Edelman, Black civil rights leader and founder of the Children's Defense Fund.

Dr. Britta Waldschmidt-Nelson’s major research interests are Transatlantic Relations, African American Studies, Gender and Religious History. She has previously served as Deputy Director of the German Historical Institute in Washington, D.C., and from 1994 to 2011 she taught American history and culture at the University of Munich. She has also been a visiting scholar and guest lecturer at numerous universities in Europe and the United States.
