  • Glass or tile

  • Mardi gras items/beads

Where can I donate or recycle things the library can’t take? Check with:

  • Goodwill, Salvation Army, local thrift stores
  • Local schools and daycare centers, after school programs
  • Women’s shelters

Conditions:

  • Must be able to be reused (new or gently used, not expired, dried out, crusty, dirty, broken)
  • When in doubt, use the best friend rule—would I give this to my best friend?
  • Donations may be turned away based on staff discretion
  • We ask each household to limit donations to two grocery bags worth of items—contact us in advance if you have an unusual item or quantity.

I have a couple of small boxes full of random supplies. I don’t have time to sort it all out. Can I just drop it off and be done with it?

  • Please make sure craft supplies have containers (no handfuls of beads, please bag it or box it). All items must be clean and free of damage.

Do I need to bring supplies to participate? Do I have to donate crafts in order to participate in the swap?

  • Nope! You do not need to donate to participate, but we will have a greater variety when more people donate. All items are free.

If I bring donations, do I have to take home unclaimed items?

  • Nope! Unswapped items will be used for library programs or donated to local nonprofits, or recycled.

Can I bring donations the day of the Swap?

  • Yes! A library employee or volunteer will help you when you arrive.

How much can I take at once?

  • We ask that everyone be respectful and take no more than two bags of items. Please select thoughtfully.

If you have questions about a donation, contact the Kiln library at 228-255-1724
