Event Details
Swedish weaving is a simple surface darning technique that uses floating threads to create geometric designs on fabric. It's also known as huck weaving, huck embroidery, or Huckaback darning.
How it's done
- Start in the center of the fabric
- Pick up the vertical threads, called floats, on the front of the fabric
- Sew through the fabric weave, floating fibers on top of others
- Work across the fabric
Uses
Swedish weaving is often used to decorate the borders of linens and towels, such as table runners, pillowcases, and kitchen towels. It's popular with both professional and amateur weavers.
